Farwest Steel Corporation is seeking applicants for the position of Branch Manager of the Steel Division. This position is located at Farwest’s Vancouver Branch

The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership, direction & coordination for all Vancouver branch sales and operational functions. This position develops both commercial and operational strategies and drives the operational process efficiencies to support the commercial direction. The Branch Manager has profit and loss responsibility for the facility and works directly with senior management to develop and execute business strategies, maximize profitability and create ownership by their team.

The Manager is also responsible to develop knowledge of market conditions, manage customer relations, oversee employee development, ensure cross training of skills and manage branch personnel. Qualified candidates will implement and lead a culture of continuous improvement utilizing lean manufacturing principles.  Additionally the manager will ensure compliance with all employment, safety and environmental regulations.   

Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years managerial experience with a minimum of 5 years in steel service center, steel fabrication or related industry experience. Additionally, experience managing a diverse workforce, proven ability to work in a dynamic work environment, ability to manage multiple tasks at once and a proven ability to develop business and strategic plans is a must. Candidates should be able to effectively analyze data, have proven ability to use business/financial software programs related to Steel Service Centers and solid computer skills using the suite of Microsoft Office tools.  Candidates must be able to develop strong client relationships as well as have proven leadership skills to create and direct high performing teams. Candidates must be effective in making presentations to outside and internal groups. Candidate must have proven ability to work independently requiring little day-to-day work direction. Willingness and ability to travel is a must.  A proven track record of employee/staff development is critical.

Additionally, candidates must have high school diploma or GED and valid driver’s license.  Preference given to candidates with a college degree or advanced courses in manufacturing, business, or engineering.
