Corporate Credit Manager

The Credit Manager position, supervising a staff of five and reporting to the Controller, is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of company credit policies, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses.


1. Maintains relationships with larger accounts and accounts which require immediate      attention due to special requests or significant past due accounts.

2. Negotiate terms, conditions, and financing with credit, sales, and corporate management on new customers & customers that develop slow payment habits.

3. Establish and support a training and development plan for members of the credit department.

4. Reviews accounts receivable with Credit Account Managers, sales managers, and corporate management on a regular basis.

5. Maintains relationships with outside attorneys, accountants, credit groups, third-party collectors, and financial institutions.

6. Expands monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date reporting.

7. Establishes standards for credit granting.

8. Represents Farwest Steel in creditor committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, and five plus years of related work experience, including management of a credit department is preferred.  Must possess thorough knowledge of credit and commercial related laws, have intermediate to advanced ERP and MS Excel skills, have considerable experience with collections and negotiations, be able to evaluate financial statements, and understand the accounting and financial impact of credit policies.  Strong communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and leadership skills required.
