Title: Branch Sales Manager

Shift:  Days, Monday - Friday, not remotely located

Position Purpose:

The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership and guidance to inside and outside sales personnel.  This includes development of account representatives, monitoring and reporting sales metrics including pricing strategies, maintaining customer credit status, facilitating communication between divisions, branches, corporate departments, sales and customers.  Additionally, the Manager is responsible for assisting in defining and implementing work strategies to ensure profitability and market growth for commercial accounts.  Expected growth would occur within the existing customer base as well as the addition of new accounts.

Major Duties

  • Staffs and directs a sales team and provides leadership and direction towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with the company vision and mission statement. Establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the marketing area and contributes to the development of training and educational programs for customers and account executives.
  • Assists in negotiating contracts, sales strategies, and account development for distribution to account executives and senior management teams while expanding market share.
  • Works closely with operations, purchasing, and credit to ensure collaboration is occurring, departmental procedures are refined to remove waste, and that market demands are clearly communicated.
  • Conducts one-on-one appraisals with all inside Steel and APG employees building effective communications, understanding expectations and development needs, while providing insight for the improvement of account executive’s sales and activity performance on a quarterly basis.
  • Review daily, weekly and monthly reports to monitor order/quote and general business activity relating to the territory

Mandatory skills to be considered for this position:  Candidates must have prior supervisory experience in the steel industry managing a diverse sales workforce, proven ability to work in a dynamic work environment, ability to manage multiple tasks at once, a proven ability to develop business and strategic plans and solid computer skills using the suite of Microsoft Office tools.  Must be able to manage a sales territory and develop effective client relationships.  Candidates must have proven leadership skills, very strong results orientation and the ability to drive sales teams/manage profitability.  Candidate must have proven ability to work independently requiring little day to day work direction.  Must be able to travel. 

Additionally, candidates must have high school diploma or GED.  Preference given to candidates with a college degree or advanced courses in manufacturing or business. Valid driver license and the ability to obtain car insurance is required.
